At Shongum, learning goes beyond the classroom! Throughout the school year, the Shongum PTO is proud to support engaging and educational assemblies that bring new experiences, fresh perspectives, and plenty of excitement to our students.
From interactive performances and hands-on learning to programs that encourage kindness, confidence, creativity, and teamwork, these special experiences help inspire our Skyhawks in meaningful ways.
Thanks to the generosity and support of our PTO families, we're able to help bring these enriching programs to Shongum Elementary. Your PTO membership, fundraising participation, and continued support help make memorable experiences like these possible for every student.
We look forward to another year of learning, laughter, and unforgettable experiences for our Skyhawks!

Mr. J's school programs are a high-energy mix of music, movement, social-emotional learning, and author read-alouds from his children's book Mr. J and the Tower That Fell. Kids don't just sit and watch — they move, sing along, and practice real SEL skills like calm breathing, naming feelings, kindness, and resilience. Designed by a certified PE teacher with nearly 20 years working with children, students will learn movement that builds focus and leave the assembly feeling energized and ready to learn.
Peace, love, unity and having fun: the Hip Hop Fundamentals flagship program from Young Audiences brings the energy of Hip Hop culture straight to the school community. Timed with Black History Month, students will experience a thrilling dance performance, discover the rich history of Hip Hop and join us on stage to learn moves firsthand! Through interactive performance, storytelling, and live dance, students are invited to step on stage, engage with professional teaching artists, and experience Hip Hop as a living culture rooted in creativity, resilience, and community.

Ridiculous Nicholas: Super Science Show! is an action-packed, educational one-man comedy variety show which utilizes circus tricks as a way to make learning more fun and uses plenty of audience participation. He’ll teach the students lessons in topics such as Metamorphosis, Interspecies Competition, Adaptive Camouflage, Mimicry, Symbiosis, The Scientific Method, Acceleration of Gravity, Center of Mass, Angular Momentum, Inertia, and Bernoulli’s Principle. But instead of going through a boring, monotonous lecture, Ridiculous Nicholas has harnessed a way to teach these lessons by performing various mind-blowing circus tricks that will engage the audience to show that they can laugh and have fun while learning.
